Controller
The controller for the processing of personal data in connection with Stillkeys is: Valentin Weber Ziegelerstieg 3 21107 Hamburg Deutschland Email: stillkeys@proton.me
In short
Stillkeys collects no personal data and transmits nothing. The app and the keyboard contain no code that can connect to the internet, no ads, no analytics tools and no account. What you type does not leave your device through Stillkeys.
Data on your device
So that suggestions and autocorrect fit you, the keyboard stores learned words and pairs of words on your device, never whole sentences. It learns nothing from fields for passwords, codes, card numbers, email and web addresses. In addition there are your snippets, your own words and gestures, the settings and the count of how many keystrokes you save. What it learned, your snippets, own words and gestures are encrypted; the key is in the Secure Enclave of this device, and these data are excluded from backups. I have no access to them. You can see and delete everything learned in the keyboard settings under “Privacy”; deleting the app removes it all.
Syncing through iCloud
Only if you turn it on in the keyboard settings (the keyboard needs Full Access for it): then Stillkeys puts snippets, gestures, settings and, if you wish, learned words into your iCloud Keychain, and iOS syncs them end-to-end encrypted with your other devices. Apple does this under Apple’s privacy policy; Stillkeys itself sends nothing, and I receive nothing. You can turn it off and use “Delete iCloud Copy” at any time in the keyboard settings.
App Store, trial and purchase
Downloading, the trial and the purchase go through the App Store. Apple processes your data for this under its own responsibility and Apple’s privacy policy. I receive neither your name nor payment details from Apple, only aggregated sales figures. Whether you are in the trial or have bought it, Stillkeys reads from the App Store on your device.
Crash reports and usage figures
Stillkeys collects none. If you have allowed sharing with app developers in iOS under “Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements”, Apple passes crash reports and aggregated usage figures on to me; Apple decides which. I use them only to fix bugs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can withdraw the permission at any time in the same place.
Reminder before the trial ends
If you turn it on, iOS schedules a notification on your device. Nothing is transmitted.
This website
This website sets no cookies, contains no scripts and loads nothing from other providers. When you visit it, Uberspace (Jonas Pasche), Mainz, processes on my behalf the data your browser sends with every request: IP address, time, page requested and browser. This is necessary to deliver the pages and to protect them against attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs contain the IP address only shortened and are deleted after 7 days. There is a data processing agreement with the host (Art. 28 GDPR). The link to the App Store leads to Apple; only through it do you leave this website.
Contact by email
If you write to stillkeys@proton.me, I process your address and your message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for questions about buying and using it, otherwise (f)). I delete the message once the matter is settled and there is no duty to keep it. The mailbox is with Proton AG in Switzerland; the EU Commission has found that Switzerland ensures an adequate level of data protection.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR) and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). Since I have no data that identify you other than emails, these rights usually concern only your messages.
Changes
If something about Stillkeys changes that affects privacy, I will update this policy. As of October 9, 2026.
